NFL Deaths.

Why are there so many deaths/shootings in the NFL? You rarely see it in any other sport. I'm wondering why that is.

What do you think?

NFL Thinking.

Every year they're are the Colts, the Patriots. The Cowboys. The Packers. The teams that seem to win every year. Then they're the Dolphins or the Rams. The teams that never seem to win each year. Then there's always at least two teams that were terrible the year before that are 4-0 or 3-1 in the first 4 weeks. But rarely, do they ever pull through in the final stretch and keep winning.
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays are a great example. The Rays were destroying all of baseball in the first half. Question was... were they for real? The second half was much the same.
This year the Bills are 4-0. 49ers are looking good.

We'll see what happens at the end of the year.

3rd time the charm.

Every once in a while I will do 3rd time the charm. It's where I list 3 things that happened not so long ago that stand out to me.

1- As we all know, the Government rejected the $700 Billion dollar package deal.

2- Redskins beat the Cowboys. (Rocks, huh?)

3- Obama totally pushed Mccain around like a little baby.

That's it for now.

NBA Season

It seems like the NBA Season will never come. Every day that goes by, it is getting closer. But it sure doesn't feel like that. I'm sure the players would hate this but, what if they made the season longer? It would mean more money for owners, and better for fans who want to watch basketball every day. I'm sure this will never happen. Just givin' it a thought.

That's what I think. What do you think? You can always comment to give me your thought on the comments page.

K-Love for R.O.Y

OJ Mayo, Beasley, and Rose on SLAM Cover.

Let me tell you something first. I love Slam. It's a fun magizine to read. I subscribe to it and I read the newest issue. On the front it says, "YALL AIN'T READY". The picture on the cover was Michael Beasley, OJ Mayo, and Derrick Rose. I was sickened to look at that, and let me tell you why.

I love my man K-Love. I'm a UCLA Basketball fan and I hate USC. In my mind, K-Love is better than OJ Mayo overall. OJ Mayo probably is more athletic, but Kevin is so smart with the ball and can give a team a better chance to win.

OJ Mayo is questionable for a couple of reasons. Back in High School, people thought he was great. Then, he comes to USC and underachieves. Now, he is being treated like a Superstar. Do you get what I'm saying? Kevin Love has never really been in the spotlight but showed great skills this summer.

Back to SLAM.

You can probably tell why I'm a little mad about that article but watch out! Kevin Love will be R.O.Y.

Off-Topic Talk

Let's get off topic a little bit and talk some football. My favorite team... The Redskins. I can just spit it out right now. If the Redskins make the playoffs, I will be out of my mind. They are in the toughest division, the NFC East. With the Eagles back on top, I can't believe this. But out of the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants... one of those three teams will not be in the playoffs. With Eli, McNabb, and Romo gunning down receivers like a 4-star general. I can't wait to see what happens.

And then, there is, the... Redskins who are talent-wise, behind the pack.

This looks worse than ever for the Redskins, but will be a fun year to watch.

Third time the charm?

For Gilbert, is 3rd time the charm?

Another Setback for the Washington Wizards.

One thing the Washington Wizards won't be seeing this year is a full season of Agent Zero greatness. Gil is going under a 3rd knee operation and will be missing at least 1 month. I'm wondering if this is affecting Gilbert more than the Wizards. Arenas missed most of last year and when he was playing he wasn't 100%. Now, he's sitting on the sidelines watching his team suffer... again.

Don Haskins

Don "The Bear" Haskins passed away September 7, 2008. Don is most famous for beating Kansas in the championship game. Don won that game by making history for starting five African Americans.

Want more of this story?

Check back later tonight for full coverage of the late Don Haskins.

An Inside Look.

Think about this.  All of those NBA Players who are getting paid to put the ball in the hoop are living lives of luxury.  Sounds great, right?

Think again...

Those players may be getting paid a lot of money, but it takes a lot more than money for them to pursue the passion of their life.  Every day of their life for most of their lives they've been practicing as hard as they can.  Talk about wear-n-tear.  They might be having fun playing out there, but they're knees can't be feeling too well.  And for many of those players they'll wake up a lot of mornings for the rest of their lives feeling the effects of all those days pounding the rock into the asphalt.

September 11th.

We should all take a moment to remember all of the innocent people who were killed on September 11th and the families in whose memories those heroes still live.

Post Coming Soon!

There will be a post coming tonight and it will be good so check back soon. Thanks for reading.

MNF

I'm watching Monday Night Football. It's the Packers vs. Vikings and this is great. I have almost no interest in any of these teams, but with Aaron Rodgers first NFL Start, and Adrian "All Day" Peterson running the ball... IT'S JUST GREAT! It's one of those games that would be a terrible Week 13 game but it's a great Week 1 game.

I'm all for Aaron Rodgers. Main reason: I was sick of the whole Brett Favre situation. More than that though, I always root for the underdogs, or in this case, a young gun, and boy he is looking good tonight.

Los Angeles Lakers (57-25)

Domination. Determination. Defense. 3 Words that sum up the Lakers Season. The whole team was unstoppable. With Kobe Bryant helping. Go a couple years back when people were saying Kobe Bryant was bigger than the Lakers. Those fans must be kicking themselves because Kobe showed them up and basically was the king last year. With Bynum injured, us Laker fans were wondering what could go worse but Mitch Kuptchak saved us all with a big deal to bring in Pau Gasol. They were great all season but fell up short when the spotlight came down on them. With Bynum added into the triangle offense, it will take the pressure off of Pau Gasol and make the Lakers that much better. They are looking good going into the NBA Season.

Questions about the Lakers:

Kobe - Better, Worse, or the same?

I'm going to say about the same. He could go a little better or a little worse. Fatigue could become a factor but I'm not buying that. I say he has another MVP-Worthy season but will lose to LeBron.

Andrew Bynum - Will his injury effect his play this year?

I think it will effect a little bit but he will still be the Bynum were used to.

Prediction: 59-23 Win the Finals

You heard me.

Boston Celtics (66-16)

The Celtics last year were simply amazing. You gotta' give props to the Celtics GM, Danny Ainge. In the 2006-2007 season, they were awful. They had a record of 24-58 finishing last in their division. They were crushed soon there after when they didn't get the 1st pick in the NBA Draft. When everything looked absolutely terrible, Danny Ainge made some huge deals. He brought in Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. Two monster weapons along with Paul Pierce. They were just better than everyone. (except the lakers) I am a lakers fan by the way. *laugh* After crushing teams in the Regular Season, they got off to a shaky start but then got back on pace to win the NBA Finals.

NBA Preview 2008

What to look for: Boston Celtics to be once again dominant, but not be as dominant as teams will catch up. Boston Celtics year-by-year will get older just like everyone else and watch out for them to slow down at times. Also, watch out for a lesser production game-by-game from the Stars... a.k.a. Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen.

Players to look out for: Rajan Rondo could be a hit in the next few years, or, he could be a complete failure. The bench could also be a surprise with the growth of Leon Powe, and others.

Prediction: 59-21, Eastern Conference Champs, and lose to the Lakers in the NBA Finals.

Thanks for reading and I'll be back.
